Golden Circle Tour
I am kalavathi, a lead traveller for a group of 14 friends who booked this tour. Unfortunately corona pandemic stopped our visit. We also booked airport pick up and drop. Right from day 1 until cancellation, the response to our queries was so promt and quick, I as the lead traveller was very much impressed. It really created a very good impression on me. My trip to Iceland in future will definitely go through snaeland travels only.
Great guide, great trip.
Our driver/guide Arni was excellent! He was knowledgeable, sharing history and personal/family stories that enriched our experience. And he had a sense of humor! 😊 Arni did a great job of adapting our itinerary to our interests and desired activity level. We highly recommend him.
Fantastic, well organised tour that showed how amazing Iceland really is!
A really well organised tour that took us to all the best spots! We managed to see so many amazing sights that were so much better than I expected — glaciers, icebergs, waterfalls, geysirs, diamond beach etc. Even though we saw so much it did not feel too rushed, and we always had the right amount of time to walk around the area. The hotels they picked were both good quality and in great locations. The hotel near Vik was especially great with amazing food, beautiful location and a sauna, hot tub and gym. The guide gave us lots of interesting facts about the history, sights and culture of Iceland. This tour was way better than I expected and I would recommend to anyone who has this amount of time in Iceland.
A fantastic journey all around Iceland
I went on this holiday with my wife for our honeymoon, and we both had an amazing time. We got to see such a wide variety of what Iceland has to show, from geysers to waterfalls and lava fields, but did not feel rushed at all as we went from place to place. Our tour guide Heimir was incredibly knowledgeable and was in a great mood throughout the trip, being very memorable himself. Iceland is a very expensive place to stay due to dining costs, so this is something to consider before coming, but I definitely feel that we got our moneys worth from this tour and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Iceland without being stuck in just one place.
Thanks Saulius from Snaeland!
After coming from Iceland cannot praise more service of Snaeland, specially their driver Saulius.
He was our driver during our 5 days stay in Iceland. Kind, helpful, very good and safe driving. Very easy to arrange everything and also flexible about some routes and last minute changes.
Thanks so much and if again working with Snaeland, it would be for sure my pleasure to work with him.
Thanks!!!
Vid Doric and rest of Croatian group.
A Very Good Tour
My husband and I took this tour and it was really good - very informative and enjoyable. Pieter, our guide and driver, was really good and seemed thoroughly knowledgeable in everything he was telling us. I’m glad we took the tour rather than trying to work it all out ourselves - I think we would have missed out on so much…
6-Day Self-Drive - Express Circle
The service, availability and support with questions were excellent. The second day after arrival was difficult, the program is certainly easy to manage in summer, as the day has more hours of sunshine. At the beginning of October it was a bit difficult to manage all the program points on the individual days, which was a shame. Nevertheless, the tour was super nice and I can only recommend it.
Fabulous landscapes
Iceland has such a diverse and dramatic landscape and I felt this tour covered so much in such a short time yet never felt rushed. Our tour guide kept us entertained with history and folklore and even added a few extra stops on our last day. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see Iceland on a tour.
Informative, Enjoyable and Reliable
As we had a group of 12 and had private tours as part of our holiday package, we were taken round in a mini bus. Bjorn, our guide and driver, was always on time and couldn't be more informative/helpful - we couldn't believe the knowledge he had. The Golden Circle Tour packs much of what the area has to offer in to a day. The Reykjanes peninsula was also an interesting tour from a geographical perspective. The transfers we had with the company to and from the airport were hassle free also. All in all we had a great experience with the company and I would recommend the private golden circle tour.
Superb guiding made the experience unforgettable
This tour is nonstop eye candy. The destinations themselves are any photographer's dream, and witnessing an active geyser was a rare treat that I will always remember. Downtown in the bus doesn't even feel like a break, because the Icelandic landscape you see during the entire trip is dramatic, dynamic, and mind-blowingly gorgeous. However, Marielle was a spectacular guide, and it is she who really made the tour truly exceptional. She was remarkably knowledgeable, told great jokes, and knew exactly how much to talk and how much to let us enjoy the scenery in silence. However, her strength really shines in that you can tell she genuinely cares about your experience. She goes above and beyond to see that you not only have a smooth trip, but that you have an unforgettable adventure. She helped a member of our group who had left his medication at home, and also made sure that everyone in the group got to know one another and become friends with clever ice breakers. Really, it was Marielle that made the tour great.
Comfortable, knowledgable, friendly
Utilised this company for trips to; Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon & Northern Lights hunt (yes, we saw them!) can’t recommend them highly enough, they do a great job. The drivers are confident on the ice roads as you’d expect and kept everyone safe at all times. The guides were very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English.
Snaeland travel is awesome!
I recently traveled to Iceland with Exotica Canada and Snaeland Travel, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. A big part of what made this trip so memorable was our guide and driver, Heimer.
Heimer was knowledgeable, engaging, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He jokingly referred to himself as a "broken radio" because he was constantly sharing fascinating information throughout the journey. His commentary covered everything from glaciers, volcanoes, ice caves, waterfalls, glacier lagoons, and Iceland's unique weather to Viking history, culture, and local traditions. His passion for Iceland was evident, and he made every destination come alive with his stories and insights.
What impressed me most was his dedication to ensuring that every guest had the best possible experience. He consistently went above and beyond, often giving extra time and energy to make sure everyone was comfortable, informed, and enjoying the trip.
One particularly memorable example was his determination to help us see the Northern Lights. After a long day, many of us were tired, but Heimer never gave up. He took us on a Northern Lights hunt that lasted more than two hours late into the evening. Despite the cold weather and the late hour, he continued driving to different locations, getting out repeatedly to assess conditions and maximize our chances. His perseverance paid off, and thanks to his hard work and commitment, every member of our group was able to witness the Northern Lights. It was truly a magical experience that we will never forget.
Heimer was generous with his time, passionate about his work, and genuinely cared about the experience of every traveler. He is one of the best guides I have ever had during my travels with Exotica.
I highly recommend Snaeland Travel, and if you are fortunate enough to have Heimer as your guide, consider yourself very lucky. He is an exceptional professional who truly goes the extra mile to create unforgettable memories for his guests.
The Snaeland Tour was excellent
The Snaeland Tour was excellent.
Iceland is not a cheap location but the Snaeland tour was modestly priced with a comfortable small bus, clean, comfortable hotels and professional, safe, friendly driver/guide. We seemed to visit all major attractions around Iceland. The Forest Lagoon bathing experience (extra cost) was also good/worthwhile.
Overall, I very enjoyed the tour and the Iceland people - highly recommended.
Icelandic Adventure!
Amazing trip around Iceland with my mom. Outlr tour guide / driver, Ellert, was very knowledgeable. We went early in the season,so some shops in more rural areas don't open until May 1st. While prices in restaurants were much higher than I'm accustomed to at home, there also wasn't a single disappointing meal the entire week, including sandwiches and hot dogs from gas stations and grocery stores in the rural areas! Make sure to bring a water bottle / travel mug to make tea or coffee at your hotel, and recommend waterproof pants and jacket for sure.
5 Day Northern Lights & Glacier Lagoon Feb 2025
We travelled 13 - 17 Feb and had a great time, arriving late afternoon to Rekjavik gave us time to explore the sights and lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. The following days were full according to the well planned itinery, allowing enough time to see everything but not feeling rushed, nor feeling that we were hanging around. Our driver (Peter) was great, knowledgeable, informative with a wonderful sense of humour filling travel time with personal stories. Hotels were absolutely fine for the time we were there and great location (Hotel Klettur in Rekjavik and Hotel Katla in Vik) Food and drink was expensive but we knew to expect this. Would just advise against visiting the IceBar, it's an absolute waste of time and money with poor ice sculptures and cheap fizz that tasted awful. Can see that most reviews for ice bar are of a similar vein. But that didn't affect our overall enjoyment of visitngIcsland, we answered why people retun time and again.Don't hesitate- just book it 😀
Great trip!
I was a bit worried about booking this tour because there weren't many reviews, but I am so glad I did! My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and the size of the tour group was perfect (17 people, so it was more intimate). Our tour guide, Guðren, was positively fantastic, and we appreciated her local insights and love for her culture. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Tour met all of my expectations!
This five day trip was fantastic! Our guide Ellert, provided historical knowledge of every spot with a wonderful sense of humor. Our driver, Christian was lovely and kept us safe over every mile/km. I’ll definitely recommend this tour to our friends and family.
Northern Lights Hunt Tour
The tour is perfect if you are looking to cover major attractions of Iceland. It is value for money and recommended if you are travelling to Iceland for the first time. The accommodation provided is excellent and the guide and the bus throughout was very very comfortable and guide was always available in case of any questions. Please book a tour guide with Ellert who is absolutely fabulous. I would recommend this trip to everyone who are visiting Iceland for the first time.
So much more than expected!
I booked this trip as part of a larger package through Exoticca. The Northern Lights and Glacier tour with Snæland Travel was so great, mostly due to our amazing guide, Peter, and the fact that only me and my friend showed up for the tour! Peter was extremely knowledgeable, he showed us so many places and knew the history (and legends!) for each spot. We had a really good time with Peter, he's super easy-going and made our trip much more special than had we gone out on our own. We definitely wouldn't have seen as much, and certainly wouldn't have learned as much!
Otherwise, the things people planing a trip want to know - No, we didn't see the northern lights. I booked through Exoticca and our trip detailed 1 of the 2 nights you would go out (I've read about tours that go out night after night until you see them, I was aware that's not what I booked). It was December, lots of clouds. That's the thing with the lights, it's hit or miss. Despite knowing we weren’t going to see them, Petter took us out at 9pm and tried to find them, until after an hour we all agreed that therm clouds weren't breaking and we should head back - There were so many other fun things on our tour to make up for it! (though, I would probably have a different attitude if I hadn't seen the lights for 10 mins in Reykjavik on night 1 of the trip! Lol)
The hotel we stayed at was cute, a tad small with the bathroom basically inside the shower stall, but manageable for 2 nights. Clean and cozy. The hotel restaurant was amazing (expensive, but amazing). Get the buffet, no matter what you think about the menu Lol You'll be glad you at least ate well at dinner come breakfast time (no eggs except hard boiled, no bacon, no breakfast meat at all except herring).
All in all, this tour made our trip so well worth it, I'd definitely recommend (and kudos to Peter, thanks again!!)
Fantastic Tour!
I loved this trip! Ellert was an excellent guide—very knowledgeable and engaging. He shared fascinating insights about the history of Iceland and the sites we visited, which made the experience even more meaningful. He was also fantastic at spotting the Northern Lights! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland.
An action-packed holiday with lots of waterfalls!
I had the most incredible time. Heimir was a truly excellent guide; so friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I loved seeing all the waterfalls on this trip, we made a few extra stops than on the program and every one of them was beautiful. This was an action packed week which let us see a little bit of everything. I would highly recommend this tour!
The golden circle; tectonic plates, waterfall, geyser, lakes.
We hired a private minibus to take us to the wonderful national park and all the sights within reach of Reykjavik and some extra bread making and tomato-growing lunch spot at Fridheumar
Ziggy, our driver was fun, humorous, chatty, knowledgeable and a delight to spend the day with. He even managed to stave away the rain at each stop, with it pelting down in between ( I think that was more down to knowing what to go to and when)
Highly recommend !
Fantastic Experience
Our driver Pall and guide Petur were absolutely fantastic. We learned a lot about the places we visited, and life in Iceland in general, with some great bits of humour along the way.
We had some last minute changes to our trip due to the strikes in Reykjavik but were always kept informed on what was happening.
When we return to Iceland again we will be booking with Snaeland Travel.
7-Day Journey Around Iceland
I went on this tour last summer, and the other day, I got a little nudge from the company to share my thoughts on it. More than happy to do so because we were really pleased with the whole experience. The pace was just right, and we’ve got some fantastic memories from Iceland. Highly recommend this tour!
Secret Escapes Northern Lights hunt/Secret escapes
This review should be read with the understanding that this was a package (Northern Lights Hunt) made through secret escapes.
Prior to this trip which is on many peoples bucket list the information was sparce. There were also concerns that a volcano was about to erupt and we had no information or updates about this prior to the trip. Our easy jet flight was early so the transfers which were provided by another company were not there. However they did come earlier than expected and we were transferred to the hotel Klettur. I think a lot of the people in the tour get a basement room so there is no view and there were roadworks going on outside but it was comfortable enough and well situated for the restaurants and bars. At this point I think a welcome email from Snaeland would have been nice and a bit more information about the itinerary.
The next morning we were met by our guide in the hotel reception and we started the tour. The coach was lovely and comfortable and always kept really warm. What we saw over the next three days is too much to describe in this review but included several amazing waterfalls, being able to stand next to a glacier, a lake with icebergs, a seal and geezers.
We stayed in hotel Kria Vik which was lovely and in walking distance of some places to eat. Iceland uses Geo thermal energy so its cheap for heating so everywhere was warm and cosey. We were very lucky with the weather and it did not rain. When we were going from place to place the light would change all the time and the views were spectacular. We went out on the night with the least cloud and drove for about twenty minutes to a dark place in the countryside. The stars were amazing and we were able to see the Northern Lights but only through our mobile phones. Part of the tour which was an extra but was then cancelled was the blue lagoon due to the earthquakes. There was no alternative offered but we did get some money back.
The guide was very knowledgeable he had an amazing dry sense of humor, we bought loads of music and radio to listen too on the trip but did not use it as we were fascinated by all he had to say however sometimes a good morning or something may have been nice. He did not communicate directly with anyone during the trip but I expect that was his way.
So I went on a bucket list trip and did not have two of the main highlights the blue lagoon and the Northern lights. However I have to say this stunning unique country has made a real impression on me. I will never forget what I saw. The amount of amazing things you can see in a short space of time is unbelievable. It is a lot of money to pay for a short break but so worth it even if it parts don't go as planned.
Best tour company i have ever dealt with! 1000% recommend them
I booked a group trip for 12 people which Dagbjort looked after. The weather meant not one but 2 flights got cancelled and Dagbjort managed to move every single one of our tours around with one days notice, was on hand constantly going back and forth with a million questions from me and coming up with new ideas for the trip and to top it off then chucked in a 3 course meal on the house at an amazing restaurant. I got outstanding reviews from the people who went on the trip.
The tour guides were amazing, the transfers were prompt and easy to find & everything went seamlessly. I couldn't recommend this company anymore. And they are very reasonably priced too, at first i questioned why they were so much cheaper than other tour companies and it is because they have their own fleet which is also why when the weather meant things got messed up it was all so easy to sort out and i only had to contact one person. Amazing tour company and amazing staff!!! The greenhouse on the golden circle is amazing and so is the lava tour!
