Join us for a one-of-a-kind journey beneath Iceland’s summer sky, as we set out in specially equipped Super Jeeps to chase the total solar eclipse. With a small group and an experienced local guide behind the wheel, we go off-road in search of the clearest skies and quietest vantage points.

Our local driver guides will keep a close eye on weather conditions and cloud cover throughout the day. The route stays flexible so we can adjust as needed and make the most of visibility.

As we drive, you'll see Iceland’s varied landscapes unfold from open plains to coastal edges and volcanic ridges. Once we reach the best available location for viewing, you’ll have time to settle in, set up any gear, and get ready.

The eclipse will begin gradually and move toward totality. We stay on site to experience the full event from start to finish and pop open drinks to celebrate before making the return journey.

Total Solar Eclipse 2026

On August 12, 2026, Iceland will witness its first total solar eclipse in over 70 years — and you’ll be there to see it. It starts slowly, as the Moon begins to move across the face of the Sun, casting a growing shadow. Then, the light will fade, the sky will fall quiet, and the Sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona, will appear in a glowing ring around the darkened Moon.

It’s a rare event and one that will be ideally visible from Iceland. With expert guides and a flexible route designed around weather and sky conditions, we’ll help you find the best possible place to experience it — safely, comfortably, and in good company.

Our journey starts with pickups at 12:00 noon and is estimated to end around 20:00, with drop-off at your chosen destination.

Pickup Time:
Pickup starts at 12:00 noon. Please ensure you are ready at your designated pickup point as you might be the first pickup of the day.

Pickup Locations:
Due to traffic restrictions in Reykjavík’s city center, we may not be able to pick you up directly from your accommodation. If so, our convenient booking system will automatically assign the nearest available pickup location for you. Usually located within 5 min walk from your accommodation.

Vehicle Identification:
All Snæland Travel vehicles are easy to spot, featuring our company logo and a window sign displaying the tour name.

Food and Drinks:
We recommend you pack a lunch and some snacks to keep you comfortable as we head for remote areas, away from the crowds. We make sure to bring celebratory drinks.

Comfortable, knowledgable, friendly

Utilised this company for trips to; Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon & Northern Lights hunt (yes, we saw them!) can’t recommend them highly enough, they do a great job. The drivers are confident on the ice roads as you’d expect and kept everyone safe at all times. The guides were very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English.
